In biblical prophecy, the "end of the world" does not mean the literal destruction of the physical planet into nothingness, but rather the end of the present age (consummation of the age, Greek: synteleia tou aiōnos) and the dismantling of fallen human systems to establish the Kingdom of God on Earth.

1. The Signs of the Close of the Age (The Olivet Discourse)
In Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, the disciples specifically asked, "What will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" The timeline begins with global labor pains (birth pangs):

Spiritual Deception: False teachers and false messiahs misleading many (Matthew 24:4–5).

Wars and Rumors of Wars: Geopolitical instability and nation rising against nation (Matthew 24:6–7).

Natural and Economic Crises: Famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places (Matthew 24:7).

Global Proclamation: The Gospel of the Kingdom preached in all the world as a witness to all nations before the end comes (Matthew 24:14).

2. The Final 7-Year Period (Daniel's 70th Week & Tribulation)
The transition of ages centers around the final seven-year covenant week prophesied in Daniel 9:27:

Resumption of Sacrifices & The Temple: Altar worship resumed before being halted.

The Midpoint Abomination of Desolation: A false global ruler desecrates the holy place, claiming divine authority (Daniel 9:27, 2 Thessalonians 2:3–4).

The Great Distress: A period of 3.5 years (42 months / 1,260 days) marked by unprecedented global upheaval, persecution of the saints, and the rise of the Beast/False Prophet system (Matthew 24:21, Revelation 13).

The Fall of Babylon: The collapse of the global corrupt commercial, religious, and political world systems (Revelation 17–18).

3. The Second Coming & The First Resurrection
The culmination of the age occurs at the visible, catastrophic intervention of the Creator:

Cosmic Signs: The sun is darkened, the moon does not give its light, and powers of heaven are shaken immediately after the tribulation (Matthew 24:29, Joel 2:31).

The Seventh Shofar / Last Trumpet: The voice of the archangel sounds, raising the dead in Christ first, followed by the gathering of the living faithful from the four corners of the earth (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, 1 Corinthians 15:52, Matthew 24:31).

The Defeat of the Nations: The Messiah touches down on the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4) and destroys the opposing armies gathered against Jerusalem at Armageddon (Revelation 19:11–21).

4. The 1,000-Year Kingdom on Earth (The Millennial Reign)
Rather than believers spending eternity floating in heaven, Scripture states that the Kingdom comes down to Earth:

Satan Bound: Bound in the abyss for a thousand years so he can no longer deceive the nations (Revelation 20:1–3).

Rule from Zion: Yeshua reigns from Jerusalem with His resurrected saints (Revelation 20:4–6, Isaiah 2:2–4).

Global Peace and Restoration: War is abolished, weapons are beaten into plowshares, nature is restored, and the earth is filled with the knowledge of Yehovah (Isaiah 11:6–9, Micah 4:1–4).

5. The Final Judgment & The Eternal State
The true final conclusion of this creation occurs after the Millennial Reign:

The Final Rebellion & Defeat: Satan is loosed briefly, deceives nations once more, and is permanently cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:7–10).

The Great White Throne Judgment: The second resurrection occurs (the rest of the dead). Books are opened, and all are judged according to their deeds and whether their names are in the Book of Life (Revelation 20:11–15).

The New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem: The current heaven and earth are cleansed by fire (2 Peter 3:10–13). A new heaven and a new earth are revealed, and the New Jerusalem descends, where the Father eternally tabernacles among men without death, sorrow, or crying (Revelation 21:1–4).
